CYCLING IN THE MONEDIERES
After spending may years cycling in the UK it is so refreshing to come to France and experience the difference as the roads are so quiet. Covering around 60 km², the Monédières Massif is one of the seven landscape entities attached to the Millevaches Regional Nature Park in Limousin. This unspoilt granite territory is located in the foothills of the Massif Central, in the south-west of the famous Millevaches plateau. It is a very rural, unspoilt area of France, scattered with rolling hills and lakes with plenty of villages to explore with bars and cafes for those lunchtime breaks. There are also a multitude of offroad trails, all extremely well marked, that will appeal to all abilities.
The Suc au May, featured on the 2020 Tour de France is a very short distance away from Maison Billot as is the Puy de Monediere with it's famous downhill mountain bike course.

The 2020 Tour de France
The 218 km Chauvigny-Sarran stage was the longest of the 107th edition . For the first time in the history of the Tour, they climbed the slopes of Suc-au-May (908m) in the Monédières massif.
The peloton passed through the centre of Treignac not 50m from Maison Billot which was a great base from which to watch this spectacular event. The stage was won by Marc Hirschi, of team of UAE-Team Emirates in front of the museum of President Jacques Chirac which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2020.
